Adults and children should always brush their teeth for 2 minutes, twice daily. When it comes to kids however, getting them to pay attention for that long or be remotely interested brushing for that matter…can be a challenge.
Here at our Holly Springs dental practice, we believe that starting the habit of brushing teeth should begin as soon as you see those first baby teeth come in, if not before. Often even just wiping infant gums with a damp cloth will help get rid of sugars and bacteria that milk, formula and other foods can leave behind.
As your children get older, it is definitely important to instill good brushing habits and keep them focused on 2min2x. Do what works best for your family, whether it be a reward system, making a game out of brushing, or simply just “these are the rules…so get brushing”.
By brushing 2min2x, you can save yourself and your kids from potentially painful and expensive dental issues down the road. Brushing helps rid your mouth of bacteria that causes cavities and gum disease and lets face it, nobody wants cavities or gum disease! Right?
